New Products

Power modules

New Products: Power ModulesLambda Americas Inc., San Diego, Calif. The PFE500F power module has more features than its predecessors, including active current-share and remote on/off. Like the existing models, the new PFE500F versions provide a convenient AC-DC board-mounted solution with an output power of up to 504 watts for applications in industrial, datacom and telecom equipment. The active current-share feature enables up to six PFE500F modules to be paralleled together to accommodate increased power requirements and/or redundancy. In addition, the positive logic remote on/off control and inverter-operation-good functions provide greater flexibility in the start-up or shutdown sequencing and diagnostics of the power system. An auxiliary output of 10-14 V at 20mA is included in the modules for powering external circuits. The power module comes in 12 V, 28 V, and 48 V nominal outputs. The 12V PFE500F delivers up to 504 W with a maximum base-plate temperature of 85°C, while the 28 V and 48 V models deliver the same output at temperatures up to 100°C.

Noise dosimeters

Scantek Inc., Columbia, Md. A pair of noise dosimeters from CESVA, the DC-112a and DC-112k, both comply with the American standard ANSI S1.25-1991 class 2 and enable the health and safety protection measures of workers against risks arising from exposure to noise, evaluated according to OSHA and other agencies. Both instruments allow the use of frequency weightings (A or C), time weighting (F or S), exchange rates (3, 4, 5, or 6), and measure simultaneously using two programmable threshold levels, which means that only one measurement is needed for norms requiring a double threshold. These dosimeters have a high storage capacity with 64 MB, which enables the time history of the measurement to be stored.

Lifting pins

Jergens Inc., Cleveland, Ohio. Kwik-Lok lifting pins provide convenience, speed, and safety in challenging applications and environments. When quick-change connections are required for material handling, construction, utilities, rigging or other applications, these lifting pins deliver confident lifting. Engineered to provide a 5:1 strength factor, the pins are stainless steel, with a 17-4 pH stainless-steel forged lifting ring to resist corrosion in harsh environments. The rings’ large opening accommodates a range of lifting hooks or hardware. A load spreader bar on each of the rings helps to prevent accidental actuation. Maximum lifting loads from 400 to 1,400 lbs. are accommodated by a range of pins in both inch and metric sizes. In inches, nominal pin diameters range from 1/4 to 5/8-in. and grip lengths range from 0.5 to 3 in.

Compression lug

New Products: Compression LugAmphenol Industrial, Sidney, N.Y. The SurLok is a Radsok-based, field-installable compression lug that offers higher ampacity, lower insertion force, higher cycle durability, and increased reliability, according to the company. The product is useful for applications that require reduced outage times to sustain generated electricity levels, as found in wind energy, process control, and railway applications. SurLok is available in four sizes with seven ampacity options; a 3.6 mm contact, a 5.7 mm contact, an 8.0 mm contact, and a 10.3 mm contact. The secure connection of SurLok ensures that voltage and amperage levels will be maintained throughout the duration of the application. The head of the pin locks into place once mated to the Radsok connector. The plastic housing, available for all four sizes, snaps over the connector to act as a protective cover. Industry-standard color codes specify the wire size needed for the compression lug.
